Course Description :

The purpose of this course is to introduce the concept of Location-Based Systems (LBS). This includes what can LBS do? spatial data manipulation, Location referencing, Global Positioning System (GPS) data acquisition, topology and spatial relationships, geographic data entry, and quality. In addition, this course outlines spatial databases and inventory operations, basic geographic data analysis, and LBSs output.  This course will introduce many case studies on the use of real-time location-data from mobile devices or smartphones to provide valuable information. The course will also include practical demonstrations on using the state-of-the art GIS software package ESRI’s ArcView.
